Delay Announced for ICD-10 Compliance Date

Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced on Feb. 16 that HHS will initiate a process to postpone the date by which health care entities covered under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) will have to comply with use of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10).

Medicare Lab Fees Cut to Pay for Physician Fee Fix

At press time, Congress just passed, and the President is expected to sign, conference committee legislation that would cut Medicare lab fees by $2.7 billion over 10 years to help pay for another short-term Medicare physician fee fix.
